October was an exciting month in Africa’s Cyber Security Calendar; the much anticipated Afri-Secure Cyber Security Summit opened its doors to the region. Leading CIO’s and security leaders took to the stage in Johannesburg for the two-day event.
CyberStream were invited to be a key note speaker at the event, providing much needed insight and analysis into the skill shortage that faces the sector and the region. Jeron van den Elshout, CyberStream’s Regional Director took to the stage alongside other speakers from companies such as Standard Bank, MWR, Mimecast, Cybereason and Fortinet.
Jeron covered critical topics such as talent attraction, staff retention and education. Followed by a Q&A and one to one networking where he could deep dive these topics on a more informal basis.
“When I first stepped on stage, I was extremely nervous, not because of public speaking or sharing my thoughts on securing talent in this sector, I was more nervous around the fact that the event was running behind schedule and being able to discuss the critical points in enough depth. The topics were so engaging that we ended up having offline discussions with many of the other speakers.” Jeron van den Elshout, Director EMEA at CyberStream Global commented.
It’s great to see CyberStream taking an active role in how we shape and build a long-term robust security market. Our global presence has already allowed the team to work internationally with many of our clients and create a wealth of data points that can assist client scale their businesses. Being able to use these platforms to spark debate and ideas can only be a good thing.
We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Summit.
